Hot water bottle / vase
Once made to hold warmth, this stoneware hot water bottle has been reimagined as a sculptural vase — its purpose transformed, its presence elevated.
The elongated, almost architectural form rests horizontally, grounding the piece with a quiet confidence. A small, centered opening interrupts the smooth volume, inviting a few stems or grasses rather than a full bouquet. The surface bears a rich, earthy glaze, softly mottled by time and use, giving the object a depth that can’t be replicated.
What was once purely functional now reads as a minimalist sculpture: calm, tactile, and unexpected. Placed on a shelf, table, or console, it becomes a subtle focal point — an object that rewards close looking and speaks to a love of reuse, restraint, and material honesty.
A humble domestic artifact, turned timeless design object.
