Stone sculpture - Lieven De Brabandere

Carved from a single block of natural stone, this sculpture by Lieven De Brabandere balances abstraction with subtle figuration.
Although composed of clean geometric forms, the work unmistakably evokes the silhouette of a stylized human bust.

De Brabandere masterfully contrasts smooth, architectural surfaces with untouched, rugged textures, allowing the material's natural history to remain visible.
This dialogue between refinement and rawness gives the sculpture both strength and serenity, inviting the viewer to oscillate between seeing an abstract composition and a quiet, contemplative portrait.
A compelling work where geometry, material and the human form converge, reflecting De Brabandere's ability to transform stone into a timeless and poetic presence.
